Humble Origins: The Adia Oils Story
How an unexpected gift became a philosophy — and a fragrance line.
There's a word in Swahili — adia — that means "an unexpected gift" or "gift from God." It's the kind of word that stops you mid-sentence, the kind that feels like it was waiting to be found. For us, it was the perfect name for something that began quietly, humbly, and beautifully: a small table at a local flea market, a collection of handcrafted fragrance oils, and a belief that what you put on your skin should be as intentional as anything else in your life.
That was the beginning of Adia Oils.
Nine Years at the Market
Before there was a website, before there were shipping labels and product pages, there were Saturday mornings. For nine years, we showed up at the Winter Park and Maitland Farmers Markets in Central Florida — setting up, greeting neighbors, letting people lean in and smell something that surprised them.
Those markets taught us everything. We learned which scents made people pause. We learned that fragrance is deeply personal — a memory, a mood, a quiet ritual. And we learned that people are hungry for something real: products made with care, with transparency, with hands that actually touched the ingredients.
That intimacy never left us. It's still in every bottle we make.
What We Put In Matters
From the very beginning, we've been deliberate about sourcing. Our fragrance oils are crafted from wild-crafted, fair trade, and sustainably harvested ingredients — because the story of a scent starts long before it reaches you.
Wild-crafted means our botanicals are gathered from their natural habitats, not mass-farmed. This preserves the integrity of the plant and the ecosystems it comes from.
Fair trade means the people who harvest those ingredients are compensated equitably. Luxury shouldn't come at someone else's expense.
Sustainably harvested means we think about what we're taking and what we're leaving behind — for the land, and for the generations who'll use it after us.
This isn't a marketing checklist. It's a sourcing philosophy we've held since day one, because we believe the energy and ethics behind an ingredient matter just as much as its scent profile.
Handcrafted in Small Batches — On Purpose
Every Adia product is handcrafted in small batches. We do this intentionally.
Small batches mean we can maintain quality control at every step. They mean we're not cutting corners to scale volume. They mean that when you open a bottle of our fragrance oil, it was made with intention — not on an assembly line.
Our process is careful and considered: blending, testing, adjusting, resting. Fragrance needs time to develop, and we give it that time. The result is a vegan perfume oil that wears differently than synthetic alternatives — longer-laasting, more skin-forward, more you.
All of our products are:
- ✅ Vegan — no animal-derived ingredients
- ✅ Cruelty-free — never tested on animals
- ✅ Handcrafted — made in small batches with intention
- ✅ Clean — free from unnecessary fillers and synthetics
The Gift, Redefined
We named this brand Adia because we believe fragrance itself is a gift — to yourself, to the people around you, to the quiet moments in your day when a scent transports you somewhere beautiful.
Whether you're discovering us for the first time or you've been with us since the flea/ farmers market days, thank you. You're the reason a flea market table became something more. We are truy blessed and grateful for each and every one of our strong supporters! Much Love!
